A unique name to match her persona and style, Melian Junius is making her mark through conceptualized projects that push societal boundaries, meanwhile setting trends. The multifaceted 23-year-old is a fresh face yet a diverse selection of work demonstrates her ability to communicate visual excellence and creative expression using- design, creative direction, modeling, styling, writing, photography, among other mediums.
Born and raised in South Bay, Ca to a Croatian immigrant mother and British-Jamaican father, Melian grew up in a low-class household as an only child. The family replaced the usual childhood pastime with martial arts, dance, and other outdoor activities. Her father trained her to be a Tae-Kwon-Do competitor, which eventually influenced the longing to express a more feminine and artistic side. At a young age Melian knew she wanted to work in the creative industry.
By age 16, she began coping life’s adversity through creative expression which soon became a passion to-die-for. She built a growing platform using available resources to curate a variety of multi-media projects. Finally at age 18, Melian took initiative to start a brand and by 19, refining self-taught skills with fashion courses at a local community college where she eventually left to follow the success of her growing company “byMelianj.”
Freelancing, Melian is published in Nike’s undft Force of La campaign, Nakid Mag, Drome Mag, featured in Cardi B, Swae Lee, Achal, Joyryde music videos, spoke in a panel for Craft Contemporary museum and more. Her brand “byMelianj,” featured in a Kadewe Wall (billboard) advertisement for google pixel campaign with Uzumaki Gellery, and in Drake/Migos, Bb Rexha, Kali Uchis/Kaytranada, music videos, along with Subvert, Drome magazine feature and more.
With an office located in downtown Los Angeles, Melian aspires to develop a high fashion house with her team, and eventually expanding into a store-front. As a multimedia freelance artist, she is interested in potential investment or representation by a PR, creative and modeling agency.
